Yard Sale & Bake Sale

September 7, 2019

Our "yard sale" is actually an indoor yard sale, spilling out into the front yard. Our Parsonage Resale Shop is simply THE place to find that perfect gift and oh, the prices are so reasonable. Things move fast, so stop by early and then again later in the day because when many yard sales close down for the day, they bring their unsold items to us!

BAKE SALE - For many this is their first stop on the route. We had loads of baked goods which sold out early.

BUTTERFLY FEST - Unfortunately, due to a scheduling conflict - this year's butterfly presentation has been cancelled. However, thanks to the Field Station there are several butterfly banding days here on the Island:

The Kelleys Island Field Station kicks off their Monarch Tagging Programs and here are the dates:

AUGUST 31 (Saturday) at the Kelleys Island State Park Pavilion 11-1pm, with hands-on and up-close experiences for everyone!

SEPTEMBER 2 (Monday) we will be tagging throughout the day on Kelleys Island. If you would like to join us. Email us at jackieruthtaylor@gmail.com. Our location for this day is TBA.

SEPTEMBER 14 (Saturday) we will be tagging from 1-3pm. Locations TBA

SEPTEMBER 28 Saturday) tagging 1-3pm on Kelleys Island, locations TBA.

Happy Monarch Migration! Also PLEASE take the time to read the newsletter from Monarch Watch to learn more about the 2019 migration predictions. The link is attached here:

We will miss Pat & Lori this year - but here are photos from 2018.

A little history of the Butterfly Festival
The first festival was held on September 18, 1982, one year after the church lease was signed and six months after the Historical Association held its first meeting. Activities included a parade from Neuman's Boat Dock to the church, a bake sale, a presentation on Monarch Butterflies and the release of 30 Monarchs, and a presentation of the deeds to the Association.  Since then, the Association has merged the butterfly festival with the Island-wide yard sale early in September.
