Over the years we have gathered some interesting links that should help members and visitors research their roots, preserve family heirlooms and connect to other museums. Here is our list so far.
GREAT LINKS SPECIFICALLY REGARDING KELLEYS ISLAND
Kelleys Island Genealogy - A list for people searching for their Island roots where you can add your family name and contact information. At the bottom is a great list of other resources for genealogists.
Beatty Family website – Not just the Beatty family, but a huge collection of historical information about Kelleys Island families.
Kelleys Island Birds and Natural History - Website for the Kelleys Island Audubon Club.
AREA LIBRARIES & ORGANIZATIONS
Sandusky Library - The library has a whole section on regional genealogy including artifacts collections, obituaries, microfilm copies of newspapers, church records and much more.
Cleveland Public Library - By all means check out their Necrology file which contains the obituary/death notices for just about ever newspaper that served the Cleveland area.
Rutherford B. Hayes Museum and Library - The library alone is worth the visit. This website also has an obituary file, and while it doesn't list the text, it DOES list the newspaper it appeared in and offers you the opportunity of ordering a copy. The R B Hayes library is also home to the Captain Hamilton collection of files, pictures and items of interest.
Erie County Chapter, Ohio Genealogy Society - A great place to continue your search for relatives in the area. They can put you in touch with someone who can help you.
